Ali + Pando
Ali had a vision when she approached Salt:Weddings. She saw her curves accented and dressed in layers and layers of soft silk lace with a beautiful multi-layer train. She knew what she didn’t want though. Chantilly lace from her love of vintage clothing wasn’t the fresh and modern take she wanted. As a photographer she understood what looked best on her body and trusted Salt:Weddings to interpret the best parts of her vintage look, her modern aesthetic, and to stitch that together for her.
For her late fall wedding in the hills we crafted a look that she was able to wear throughout the ceremony and then dancing into the night. Her Salt:Wedding mood board was one part vintage circus spectacular and one part siren song. Taking those clues I used the piecing style from some of her favorite 40s looks but modernizing it with fabric and pushing the cuts a bit further. Rather than a base layer and one layer of silk the bodice had over 5 layers of silk netting building up to an all-over lace net with self embroidered rosettes. The skirt was comprised of over 10 layers of the silk rosette lace net.
