Eloise + John Eric
Eloise is a librarian in Los Angeles and while her work calls for quiet; her love of Fluevog shoes and outrageous eyewear belie a sophisticated design taste. For her wedding dress she wanted classic. Silk satin and organza in a princess cut but her Salt:Weddings mood board kept talking about the woods, fairies, and a little 50’s Dior for good measure.
I decided that the princess silhouette for Eloise was going to borrow heavy from Dior’s infamous “new look” - drawing attention to her nipped waist while balancing out her full skirt. Yards and yards of full circle cut organza surrounded the skirt and covered the bodice. The organza was then draped into a bias cowl to soften the neckline. I then took almost six foot by two foot bias sections and pleated them into the shoulders to give her the “fairie float” she kept describing to me. The entire dress looks at one moment straight out of the 1950s but upon closer inspection the special touches I pulled from her images stand elegantly out.
